Pat Boone
In a public career now spanning half
a century, Pat Boone has been a top-selling recording artist, the star of his
own hit television series, a movie star, a Broadway headliner, and a
best-selling author.
The great-great-grandson of the legendary pioneer Daniel
Boone, he had planned to be a teacher -- even graduated magna cum laude from
Columbia University, where he enrolled while holding down a new job as a regular
on the Arthur Godfrey television show.
Now residing in the same Beverly Hills home where he has lived
since 1960, Pat and his wife Shirley recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding
anniversary. They have four children and fifteen grandchildren. Personal friends
have included legendary Hollywood luminaries, and Boone was a friend and early
political supporter of Ronald Reagan.
He has been national chairman of the Easter Seal Society, and
he serves as the National Spokesman of the 60 Plus Association.
During the classic rock & roll era of the 1950's he sold more
records than any artist except one Elvis Presley, and he is unmoved by standing
as the biggest selling artist of that era never inducted into the Rock & Roll
Hall of Fame.
