NEW YORK -- A director at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company who has studied the effects of new technology on media and society will become the next president of the Ford Foundation.
Luis Ubinas will assume the position in January, when Susan V. Berresford's retirement takes effect, the foundation announced Tuesday. Berresford has held the post since 1996.
At McKinsey, Ubinas has worked with traditional media companies responding to the effects of new media, and with emerging technology companies on the introduction of new media services.
He also has advised senior nonprofit managers and serves on boards of several regional and national nonprofit organizations.
Ubinas becomes the ninth president in the 70-year history of the Ford Foundation, the second-largest private philanthropy in the United States.
