Brad Greenspan Still Eyes Dow Jones Deal

Brad Greenspan, founder of Entertainment Universe that spawned the popular Web site MySpace in 2003, is still interested in exploring a joint bid for Dow Jones Company.

Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. has already made a $5 billion offer for the publisher of The Wall Street Journal and is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with the Dow Jones board.

Even so, some members of the Bancroft family which controls the majority of the voting share of Dow Jones, are reported to be uneasy with selling the company to News Corp. because of Murdoch's reputation for directing news coverage of some of his other properties for his political or business purposes.

An article in the Los Angeles Times stated that Greenspan, who made a reported $47 million when his EUniverse was sold to Murdoch's News Corp., told the newspaper that he would be happy to venture into a joint bid with Yucaipa Cos., which is controlled by billionaire Ron Burkle.

In his interview with the Times, Greenspan told the newspaper that his strategy focused on a new cable or satellite television network that would use Dow Jones content.
