Warren Buffett to Hold Fund Raiser for Sen. Obama

Late in June, billionaire investor Warren Buffett used his business clout and folksy wisdom to raise $1 million for Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton - but now it is Sen. Barack Obama’s turn to enjoy the largesse.

At the Buffett/Hillary affair, attendees (mostly Wall Street folks) paid $500 to hear Buffett and the New York senator, $1,000 to attend a separate cocktail party, or $4,600 to attend a dinner as well - bringing the take to $1 million, a Clinton spokeswoman said.

A planned Buffett/Obama fundraiser will be just as pricey.

An invitation for the August 15 reception at the Ironwood Country Club in Omaha, Nebraska asks those who wish to be listed as hosts for the event to raise $5,000, according to a Bloomberg report.

Other attendees are asked to give between $500 and $2,300 - the most an individual can contribute for a candidate's primary campaign.

Buffett is on record saying that he admires the "vision” of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and would help their presidential campaigns if they sought his aid.

"I’ll help either one of them if they ask,” Buffett said at a charity luncheon in New York last May. "They’ve got the intellect. They’ve got a vision of the kind of America they want to have.”

Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki declined to say how much the event is expected to raise for the Illinois senator. Buffett wasn't available for comment, according to the Bloomberg report.
