The U.S. Army is now offering an additional $20,000 bonus to new recruits willing to ship out quickly.
The "QS” bonus, for "Quick Shipper,” goes to new and prior service recruits who join, select a job and ship out for training within 30 days.
The bonus is in addition to other enticements already in place.
"The $20,000 means a lot of seed money for new soldiers answering the Army’s call to duty,” Tom Foley, spokesman for the Columbus, Ohio, Recruiting Battalion, told station WLWT in Cincinnati.

"The Army is growing in size and we simply need more recruits for training, now.”
The Army has had difficulty meeting recruiting goals of late as the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan continue.
