Republican presidential front-runner Rudy Giuliani reported on Friday that he had more than $18.3 million on hand at the end of June, after spending just over $11.2 million during the second quarter.
The former New York mayor raised almost $17.6 million in the second quarter, second only to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among Republican candidates. Romney who used a $6.5 million personal loan to put his total at $20.5 million for the three-month period.
Giuliani has been leading most national opinion polls though Romney has been gaining strength in some key states that hold early contests for the Republican nomination.
He was the first candidate to file his detailed report to the Federal Election Commission ahead of the July 15 deadline.

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who had been an early favorite for his party's nomination, is expected to report that he has less than $2 million in the bank after troubles raising money and high expenditures.
Candidates have been crisscrossing the country raising millions of dollars to fund their campaigns, pay for staff, and buy expensive advertising to attract voters ahead of the November 2008 election.
