After Imus and Rosie, Are O'Reilly, Beck Next?

Following the firing of Don Imus, Advertising Age’s Matthew Creamer listed Rosie O’Donnell — "an equal-opportunity offender” — among supposedly endangered talk-show hosts. Just days later, she was fired.

Other talkers who made Creamer’s list in his story "Which Talking Head Will Roll Next?” include:

  • Glenn Beck. Noting that Beck impugned the loyalty of Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Congress, Creamer says: "It’s only a matter of time before Mr. Beck pops off at the wrong time.”

  • Bill O’Reilly. "His recent immigration-related freakout in a discussion with Geraldo Rivera displayed a tendency toward unscripted rage that could become problematic.”

  • Nancy Grace. "A combative interview with Melinda Duckett, the mother of a missing toddler, was followed promptly by Ms. Duckett’s suicide, although the host denied any connection.”

Creamer also warned that YouTube could be in trouble.

"It’s only a matter of time before some truly objectionable material ends up next to some marketing content and advertisers need to take flight.”
