Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is the most powerful person in TV news, according to Television Week, which places Ailes at No. 1 on its Top 10 Most Powerful List for 2007.
The list is "completely unscientific,” Television Week’s Michele Greppi concedes, but is based on such factors as ratings and revenue.
In selecting Ailes, Greppi notes that he heads the most-watched cable news network, with its "killers’ row of brand-name personalities.”
Fox News’ prime-time ratings were up 8 percent during the first quarter of this year. And Fox News Radio has now grown to 650 affiliates.
Ailes topped the list last year as well.
