Ahmadinejad: 'Zionists Are Not Jews'

This article was prepared by NewsMax.com United Nations senior correspondent Stewart Stogel. He reports from New York City.

Iran's flamboyant president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, held a rambling news conference at the United Nations marked by repeated confrontations with Israeli and Lebanese reporters.

To one Lebanese reporter who asked the Iranian if Tehran would honor Security Council resolution 1701, which prohibits arms transfers to anyone other than the Lebanese government, he replied: "Who are you? Are you a reporter? You seem like an enforcement agent of the Security Council."

When asked by a reporter from an Irish publication if Iran wants to "wipe" Israel off the map, he replied, "Zionists are not Jews. They are not Muslims. They are not Christians. They are a power hungry, power group."

He never answered the two questions.

Ahmadinejad did say that while his government had its "differences" with the Bush administration, Iran "still loves the American people."
