Hillary Challenger Raises More Than $3 Million

Spencer for Senate, the campaign committee of John Spencer, the Republican candidate for United States Senate in New York who is challenging Hillary Clinton, released fundraising figures contained in the F.E.C. filing for the quarter ending June 30, 2006.

FEC Form 3, page 2, line 6(a) showed contributions totaling $1,271,425 for the period and contributions totaling $3,049,425 for the "cycle to date”.

Page 2, line 8, shows $646,335 "cash on hand” at the close of the reporting period.

To date, over 101,000 individual contributions have been received by the campaign and the donor rolls have grown to approximately 75,000 individuals.

  Campaign spokesperson Rob Ryan said: "It’s clear, New Yorkers and Americans realize that John Spencer is the Republican who can defeat Hillary Clinton. We will have the money and the message needed to win the GOP Primary and are building the national donor base needed to finance the campaign against Senator Clinton”
