A new Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll on the 2008 presidential race shows Hillary Clinton closing in on Sen. John McCain.
If Senators Clinton and McCain are the two nominees, "the country could be in for another nail-biter," say Opinion Dynamics pollster Dana Blanton, noting that the two political stars are now in a near-statistical dead heat, 46 percent to 42 percent.
"Given the poll’s 3-point margin of error, that means this race could go either way," Blanton says.
The other top GOP contender, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, still leads Mrs. Clinton by a wide margin, 49 to 42 percent. But even that gap is slightly lower than in previous surveys.

Mrs. Clinton's improving national poll numbers come as the press has turned more critical of both McCain and Giuliani.
Once a media darling, McCain has repeatedly been called upon in recent TV interviews to explain his decision to speak at Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University, an institution reporters regard as too conservative.
The press has also begun to spotlight "Giuliani Time," a new film that seeks to portray the ex-mayor's pre-9/11 governance of New York as authoritarian and intolerant.
Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, continues to receive overwhelmingly positive media coverage, including a glowing New York Times profile on Tuesday that casts her marriage to Mr. Clinton as nearly ideal.
