As immigrants and their supporters prepare for Monday's boycott, opponents of illegal immigration are building a border fence to symbolize their support for a secure border.
About 200 volunteers organized by the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps of California are building a six-foot barbed wire fence along a quarter-mile stretch of terrain in Boulevard, about 50 miles east of San Diego.
The fence is connected to an existing 12-foot high fence built by the federal government.
Volunteers say they want to send a message to Congress that the government should block entry to the United States and not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
