Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., comfortably ahead in her race for re-election in New York, addressed John Kerry's controversial comments about the U.S. military during a campaign stop Wednesday.
Clinton joined a growing number of Democrats who have criticized Kerry for what the junior senator from Massachusetts claims was a "botched joke" about the Bush administration. Instead, Kerry is being pilloried for implying members of the U.S. military are not 'smart' enough to avoid serving in Iraq.
"What Sen. Kerry said was inappropriate,” Clinton said.

Clinton tried to deflect attention away from Kerry by adding that "elections are about the future,” and "we don’t have to be re-fighting the 2004 election, as much as President Bush would like that.”
