Rep. Katherine Harris Sells Millions in Stock
Katherine Harris has sold her family stock, worth more than $5 million, in the final chapter of a nasty battle over her late grandfather’s estate.
The Republican congresswoman, who is running for the U.S. Senate, revealed the sale in her financial disclosure report for 2004, filed earlier in August. Harris had requested and received an extension.

The stock was worth between $5.1 and $25.25 million, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The disclosure report requires lawmakers to list their holdings in broad categories rather than in specific dollar amounts.
Harris’ grandfather Ben Hill Griffin Jr., who controlled a cattle and citrus empire, died in 1990. His heirs began a long legal battle involving multiple lawsuits, including one that pitted Griffin’s son against his sister Harriet, Harris’ mother, and three other sisters.
Harris sold her stock this year as part of the settlement of the family feud.
Harris and her husband, businessman Anders Ebbeson, had holdings valued at $7.8 million to $36.9 million at the end of last year, making Harris one of the wealthiest members of Florida’s congressional delegation.
