Dan Rather Avoided 'Like the Plague'
Disgraced TV newsman Dan Rather is supposedly headed back on the air on "60 Minutes" this fall, but he's being "avoided like the plague" by some of his CBS News colleagues, according to a report.
Meanwhile, in a twisted irony, two former CBS executives who lost their jobs over the forged Bush National Guard document scandal called "Rathergate" have been nominated for a major award.

Josh Howard and Mary Murphy were forced to step down after last fall's "60 Minutes II" story featuring Rather's report that President Bush had skirted National Guard service during the Vietnam War. The report turned out to be based on forged documents.
Murphy was the story's producer, while Howard was executive producer of "60 Minutes II."
Now the two are among the nominees for the 26th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. They were cited for a "60 Minutes II" piece titled "Life in Baghdad."
In May, Rather and producer Mary Mapes received prestigious Peabody awards for breaking the Abu Ghraib prison story on "60 Minutes II."
Mapes was fired by CBS over the Rathergate fiasco, and Rather left his news anchor position in March – with the network claiming his departure was arranged before the Bush story aired.
