Judge Whittemore Denies Terri

A federal judge ruled early Tuesday morning that a disabled Florida woman cannot have her feeding tube reinserted.

Denying the request of Terri Schiavo's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, Judge James Whittemore's ruling means that Terri Schiavo will starve to death in a week to 10 days unless congressional subpoenas issued on Friday are enforced or appeals are granted by higher courts.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist issued a statement on Friday saying that anyone who interferes with Congress' call to have Ms. Schiavo testify in person on March 28 would be subject to a fine and imprisonment.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay threatened to hold Florida State Judge James Greer, the presiding judge in the Schiavo case, in contempt of Congress.

Tuesday marks the fifth day Ms. Schiavo has been denied food and water on Judge Greer's order.
