Dowd: Swiftvets are 'Lying Liars,' Franks Abandoned His Troops
New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd trashed more than 200 Vietnam veterans who served alongside John Kerry Thursday morning as "lying liars who lie in their Swift Boats" and blasted former CENTCOM commander Tommy Franks as "a general who left his troops in Iraq."
Complaining that her book "Bushworld" was trailing the Swiftvet book "Unfit for Command" and Franks' memoir, "American Soldier," on the New York Times best-seller list, Dowd told radio host Don Imus:

"I have to get above the Swift Boat guys. Look at the guys above me [on the list]. A president whose book is unreadable. A general who left his troops in Iraq - he should be back over there. And the Swift Boat lying liars who lie in their Swift Boats."
