Speculation is mounting over who among the GOP convention stars may be appearing at the 2008 convention – as a presidential nominee.
New York’s twin political towers, Mayor Rudy Giuliani and third-term Gov. George Pataki could potentially go head to head in four years.

The two GOP stallions held forth to the delegates of the two most important primary states - New Hampshire and Iowa.
The New York Post reports that while Giuliani wowed Midwesterners from the Hawkeye State with insider accounts of 9/11, Pataki entertained the Granite State delegation with some hard-hitting blows aimed at Kerry.
Pataki scoffed at Kerry’s salute and opening line of his acceptance speech at the Dems' convention in Boston. After pointing out that Kerry was a no-show for 28 of 39 hearings when he served on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Pataki asked, "Now, does that sound like 'reporting for duty' to you?"
Giuliani praised Americans, declaring, "People anywhere in America would come back like" New Yorkers in response to 9/11.
Pataki recently "held a strategy meeting with key advisers" at New York's Water Club restaurant to discuss a potential 2008 run for the White House, Newsweek has reported.
And though New York magazine recently declared, "These days, if Rudy is Oprah, Pataki is Montel," the Guv has often emerged from a race as the victorious underdog.
