Bush had the backing of 44 percent, Kerry 42 percent and independent candidate Ralph Nader 2 percent in the Reno Gazette-Journal and KRNV News Four poll released today.
In June, Bush had 48 percent and Kerry 42 percent. Bush had an 11-percentage-point lead in the state in March.
Del Ali heads Research Two-Thousand of Rockville, Md., which conducted the poll. He says the survey shows the race is a toss-up in the state with five electoral votes.
The poll of 600 likely voters conducted Aug. 14 through 17 had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
