Franken Promises to Apologize to Hannity

During an impromptu radio encounter between No. 2 national talk radio host Sean Hannity and Air America host Al Franken, Franken promised to apologize if it turns out he mischaracterized an earlier encounter with the conservative host in his book "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them."

Sitting down during Franken's broadcast at the Democratic convention on Tuesday, Hannity wasted no time in taking the left-wing host to task for not coming clean about Franken's last appearance on "Hannity & Colmes," where, Hannity said, security had to be summoned to remove Franken from the building.

"You lied when you say you weren't walked out of the Fox News Channel - that's a lie," Hannity charged.

"It isn't," Franken insisted, saying they merely had a "screaming match" over whether Rush Limbaugh had ever called Chelsea Clinton "the White House dog."

The conservative host said he had four witnesses who would testify under oath about the details of the incident. "I'll bring them to you and you can put them on Air America," Hannity pledged.

Asked if he would correct the record in his next book if the witnesses confirm Hannity's version, Franken replied: "Absolutely. If my recollection is wrong, I'll admit it."

Franken acknowledged apologizing to Hannity once before, admitting that "my fuse blew" during the earlier encounter and he called Hannity to apologize afterward.
