Mehlman: Kerry's 'Hatefest'
Democrats and their friends in the press are still squirming over Thursday night's X-rated Kerry-Edwards fund raiser held at Radio City Music Hall - and the GOP has no intention of letting them off the hook.
In fact, Bush-Cheney campaign manager Ken Mehlman is hoping the ugly episode translates into a fund-raising bonanza for Republicans.

In an e-mail sent to 6 million subscribers over the weekend, Mehlman noted that the event featured "actors and comedians denouncing the president as a liar, making off-color jokes about his name, and accusing him of risking soldiers' lives for political gain."
As for John Kerry's thick-headed decision to praise Whoopi Goldberg's obscenity-laced Bush bashing for conveying "the heart and soul of our country," Mehlman countered, "We disagree, and we're pretty sure you do too."
"The Heart and Soul of America may disagree with a President, but they have respect for the office - a respect the Kerry campaign and its supporters seem unwilling, or unable to show in favor of vicious, venomous rhetoric."
The top GOP'er continued:
"Help us ensure we have the resources to hit back the next time Kerry's coalition of out-of-the-mainstream surrogates call the president 'a cheap thug' or refer to the Administration as 'a self-serving regime of deceit, hypocrisy and belligerence.'"
