Bishop: No Communion for New Jersey Gov. McGreevey
Not all American bishops refuse to support the Catholic Church's teachings: The new leader of the Diocese of Camden says he won't serve Holy Communion to divorced, pro-abortion New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey.
The Most Rev. Joseph Galante says his stand is based primarily on the Democrat's failure to get a church annulment before remarrying. He also noted McGreevey's support of abortion, fetal stem-cell research and other anti-Catholic practices.
McGreevey, a former altar boy, had no plans to attend Galante's installation today at St. Agnes Church in Blackwood. If the guv showed his face: "I'd give him a blessing. In his case, he can't
go to Communion."
