Schwarzenegger's Janet Jackson Joke a Bust

The Terminator thought it was funny, but some who heard his joke were angry.

Speaking to a group of top corporate executives in San Jose, Calif., Thursday, Gov. Schwarzenegger said: "People are poor in this state now. With the economy going down, people have no clothes anymore. Look what happened to Janet Jackson."

But according to a San Francisco TV station, although there was some laughter in the room when Schwarzenegger made his comments, there were also murmurs of disapproval. One person who was there said, "Schwarzenegger just doesn't get it."

"Oh my God," was Karen Brown's reaction.

Brown watched the governor's remarks on TV with her 15-year-old son, Jake, who has cerebral palsy and communicates through a light-operated talking computer. Brown gets $10.50 an hour to provide care at home from the state, but the governor wants to completely eliminate that program. Without it, the TV station reported, Jake might need to be put into an institution.

"Does he just not understand or does he really not care?" Brown said. "After seeing the clip today, we can pretty much wrap it up as he doesn't care."

"I just want my mom to be allowed to keep taking care of me," Jake said.
