New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is even winning over some stalwart conservatives in the U.S. Senate.
This weekend, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told Fox News' Cal Thomas that one of the best senators he has worked with is Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"She has been great to work with," Graham told an obviously surprised Thomas.
Graham then noted that he was no Clinton fan when she first arrived. He had been a House impeachment manager during the 1998 proceedings against her husband, Bill.
Still, Graham said that Hillary has worked to "reach across the aisle" and that she has been working hard to "change her image."
Graham applauded Hillary's support of his effort to get the 194,000 Reserve and National Guard troops eligible for the military's health-care program.
Graham also suggested that Mrs. Clinton was attempting to moderate her views.
Sen. Clinton has bucked her party leadership on several votes, with a Senate voting record looking more like Joe Lieberman's than John Kerry's.
For example, Clinton voted to give President Bush authorization to oust Saddam Hussein. She also voted for his request for $87 billion to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan.
