The Rev. Al Sharpton denounced recent attacks on soon-to-be Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday, saying that descriptions of her as an "Aunt Jemima" and racist caricatures by mainstream cartoonists should have provoked "outrage."
"I do think some of the things I've heard about Condoleezza Rice are over the line," Sharpton told WWRL Radio's Steve Malzberg and Karen Hunter. "I think there should be outrage [over the Rice attacks]."

Asked why he hasn't spoken out against the racist attacks on Rice before today, Sharpton said, "That's not true. I've said that wherever I was asked about it."
The failed presidential candidate refused to condemn, however, a recent racist-sounding rant against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas by incoming Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who called Thomas "an embarrassment" on Sunday.
"He's right that Thomas is an embarrassment to the court," Sharpton said. "I don't think [Reid's comment] had anything to do with his race. I think that is just Reid and many of us, in terms of our analysis of Thomas' tenure on the court."
The failed presidential candidate had called in to WWRL to deny a report in Tuesday's Village Voice that he had cheated on his wife, Kathy, claiming they were already separated during the period in question.
"This is an absurd story," he insisted. "No one can cheat on your wife - or your wife cheat on you - if you are purposely separated and no longer living together."
