Byrd Threw Kerry's Book in Garbage
Democratic Party stalwart Sen. Robert Byrd is 100 percent behind Sen. John Kerry's drive to unseat President Bush in next month's election.
But like a lot of Republicans, Byrd didn't think much of Kerry's anti-war shenanigans three decades ago when he teamed up with "Hanoi Jane" Fonda and led protests against his country's involvement in the Vietnam War.

Still, in 1971, Kerry had the gall to ask the West Virginia Democrat to review the book he co-authored chronicling his role in the group Vietnam Veterans Against the War, titled "The New Soldier."
Byrd wasn't exactly thrilled with Kerry's literary effort.
"You wanted to know my reaction to your book," he wrote back, according the Charleston, W.V., Daily Mail.
"I say most respectfully, I threw it in the wastebasket after leafing through it," Byrd explained.
