Kerrey to Kerry: Apologize to Vietnam Vets
Vietnam veteran and major Kerry backer former Sen. Bob Kerrey said Sunday that the presidential candidate should apologize to his fellow Vietnam veterans for accusing them of committing war crimes.
Asked whether Kerry should "apologize" for his 1971 admission that he committed "the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers," the Nebraska Democrat told NBC's "Meet the Press", "I think he shou ...," before stopping in mid-word.

Kerrey then explained:
"This is what I think he should say: 'I tried to end this war, along with lots of other veterans. ... But what I said I know hurt people. I know it hurt veterans out there. It made it difficult for them.'"
Kerrey urged Kerry: "I think he needs to acknowledge that he hurt people. I think it would go a long way towards defusing some of the pain that Vietnam veterans feel."
