Pro-abortion Group Tries to Censor Bishops
A pro-abortion group has asked the Internal Revenue Service to revoke the tax-exempt status of the Catholic archdioceses of St. Louis and Denver, whose bishops, unlike most, dare to uphold Catholic doctrine.
A complaint filed Tuesday by the phonily named anti-Catholic group Catholics for a Free Choice cited a pastoral letter by St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke, who noted that Catholics could not vote for candidates supporting abortion wrongs, euthanasia, reproductive cloning, same-sex marriage and research that destroys unborn humans.

"Public money should be used for charitable purposes, not for
telling people who to vote for implicitly or explicitly," said
Frances Kissling, president of the outfit.
Indeed? Then when is she going to file complaints against the churches and synagogues recently exploited as Democrat campaign stops by John Kerry, John Edwards, Al Gore and Bill Clinton?
Another development Tuesday is surely no coincidence: Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights filed a complaint with the IRS against the pro-abortion group.
"The IRS provides a tax-exempt status to organizations that serve the public interest. It is the contention of the Catholic League that Catholics for a Free Choice is an anti-Catholic hate group, and therefore forfeits its status as a public charity; hence, it should be denied a tax exemption," said Catholic League president William Donohue. "We will supply the IRS with the necessary background information."
P.S. For some reason the wire services of the pro-abortion media establishment deemed it newsworthy to pass along stories about the pro-abortion group's complaint but not about Catholic League's.
