Clark Regrets Potshot at Draft-Dodging Ski Bum Dean
Wesley Clark is sorry he made fun of Democrat rival Howard
Dean for dodging the draft and skiing with a "back injury" while Clark recovered from wounds suffered in the Vietnam War. Really he is.
"I didn't have as much practice skiing as the governor did.
He was out there skiing when I was recovering from my wounds in
Vietnam," Clark said in November on WNTK radio in Manchester,
N.H.
But the retired general told Tim Russert on NBC's
"Meet the Press" Sunday: "Let's put it in context, Tim. I was asked in a radio call-in about having a skiing contest with Governor Dean, and sometimes, as you understand - I mean, politics is easy, but humor is tough.
"That was an attempt at a little bit of humor that some people didn't laugh at."
Oh, don't be so modest. We bet that Karl Rove is still laughing.
Then Clark lobbed yet another stink bomb at Dean: "He made his decision. He'll take responsibility for it."
