O'Reilly: Clintons Sicced IRS on Me

In his new book "Who's Looking Out for You?" Fox News Channel star Bill O'Reilly warns that there can be consequences for taking on public officials the way he has.

"I was audited three years in a row during the Clinton administration," he explains.

"The audits were not specifically targeted, just big fishing expeditions. I gritted my teeth and gave the auditors an avalanche of receipts. I had to pay a few bucks but I didn't back down from the IRS."

O'Reilly says that the Clinton audits weren't as bad as they could have been. "I have a daily TV and radio program, so I can embarrass the bastards."

But for the little guy, the Fox host counsels, "never, ever go up against any government official alone. They can and will hurt you."

So why hasn't pseudo civil rights leader Jesse Jackson been subjected to similar IRS scrutiny despite his decades-long practice of political fund raising in tax-exempt churches?

The answer is fear, says O'Reilly, who has devoted half a dozen "O'Reilly Factor" episodes to trying to get to the bottom of Jackson's questionable finances.

"[Jackson] can do what he wants with his tax-exempt organizations because the federal government truly fears the man," he charges.

The top-rated cable star said that no administration wants to be labeled racist, a charge that Jackson, with the help of the media, can make stick.

"Jackson is one of the few Americans," says O'Reilly, "who gets a pass from the feds."
