Speaking to reporters yesterday in Albany, N.Y., Sen. Hillary Clinton said once again that she had ruled out actively seeking her party's presidential nomination next year.
"But she ducked when asked whether she'd rule out a draft by her party," reports the New York Daily News.
That's a far cry from Clinton's position earlier this year, when NewsMax.com's Carl Limbacher asked her what she'd do if her party beseeched her to run.
The exchange, which took place on WLIE's Mike Siegel Show in January, went like this:
NEWSMAX: Sen. Clinton, you are once again tops in a presidential poll. The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has you at 39 percent among Democrats, dwarfing every other Democratic candidate in the race. You've said you won't run in 2004. You say you have no plans for 2008. Would you accept a draft in 2004?
CLINTON: No. You know, I am very intent on doing everything I can as a senator for New York and I'm going to support whoever our nominee is because I think we need a good debate. (End of Excerpt)
Listen to Hillary Clinton's now inoperative statement on whether she'd accept a draft.
