Bill Clinton: 'I'd Love to Play the Field'

When U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton was discussing her book with ABC's Barbara Walters in June, she said that if she catches hubby Bill cheating again, she'll keep it a secret and won't discuss the details outside of her marriage.

Apparently Bill Clinton has taken his wife's announcement to heart, so much so that he had a little announcement of his own last week.

"I'd love to play the field and run around," Mr. Clinton told a rapt audience in the New York Mets dining room during an impromptu visit to Shea Stadium.

According to the Village Voice, Clinton's bizarre admission came after telling the group that if he was a ballplayer, he'd probably play first base. But then the ex-philanderer-in-chief couldn't resist the double entendre, announcing that he was ready to "play the field."

The comment was so jarring that the Voice felt compelled to note, "this is a direct quote."
