Dem Defending Davis: Clinton Wasn't Impeached
Democrats in California have gone beyond merely comparing Gov. Gray Davis' imminent recall to Bill Clinton's 1998 impeachment, with at least one of them now claiming that Clinton's impeachment never actually took place.
"You know, we had a phony impeachment of President Clinton," Rep. Brad Sherman insisted Friday night to Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes." "But we stood together and said, if that impeachment goes forward, and thank God it didn't, Al Gore should become president."
Moments later Sherman was called on his bizarre claim that Clinton's impeachment never went forward, with "H&C" host Sean Hannity reminding him:
"He was impeached. He was suspended by the Arkansas Bar, was kicked off the Supreme Court Bar, and was held in contempt of a federal judge, just in case you forgot."
