At least some of the sexual harassment charges that were unleashed just four days before his election were politically motivated, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday.
"No one ever has complained for 35 years that I'm in this country," he told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity. "And then all of a sudden a few days before the campaign before the election all of a sudden, there's all these allegations. It was rather coincidental, I have to say."
"I just think that's the way it is in politics," the California Republican explained. "And one has to, you know, look at it in a realistic way."
Schwarzenegger added, "At the same time, I always said that if there is anyone out there that I've offended, I'm always ready to apologize."
The actor-turned-poltico said he's in the dark about a defamation lawsuit filed by Hollywood stuntwoman Rhonda Miller, who alleged the day before the election that he sexually harassed her on two occasions in the 1990s only to have Schwarzenegger's campaign direct the media to court records on a different woman with the same name who had a long arrest record.
"I don't know anything about the woman's claim," Schwarzenegger told Hannity. "That's something that has to do with the campaign, and so I'm not familiar with that."
