Dean Sends Mixed Message on Schwarzenegger Win
It looks like one-time Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean is having a hard time making up his mind about Arnold Schwarzenegger's big win in California Tuesday night.
The day before Arnold trounced his party, the Vermonter warned his supporters via e-mail that unless the California Dems could terminate the Terminator's gubernatorial bid, it would "make it significantly more difficult for the Democrats to win California in the 2004 presidential election."
But after Arnold emerged victorious Wednesday morning, Dean had come up with some new spin that actually made it sound like a boost to his campaign.
The New York Post's Deborah Orin reports he's now telling reporters that Schwarzenegger's landslide was really "a rebellion against George Bush's massive tax cuts."
