Democrats Scheme to Undermine California Election

Frantic Democrats have apparently already decided that Gray Davis will lose California's recall election, so they've turned to Plan B: fighting the will of the people.

Taking a page from the Sore Loserman handbook, Democrats are launching a national fund-raising campaign today to challenge any election result they don't like in California.

An outfit that calls itself Democrats for America's Future wants the cash to put lawyers in overdrive after Tuesday's election.

"We're preparing for every possibility," Peter Ragone, communications director for Davis' anti-recall campaign, admitted to the Sacramento Bee. "There's a lot at stake here. We want to make sure every voice is heard."

Except the voices that disagree, natch.

Ragone, of course, said nothing about preventing illegal aliens from casting their illegal ballots. And why should he? It was Davis who, after previously noting it was a bad idea to let foreign criminals have California driver's licenses, signed into law a measure letting them have the IDs and thus the ability to vote illegally.

Davis claims to be ignorant of the effort to challenge the voters' decision.

"I'm focused on winning the recall, not winning it in a legal challenge," he insisted Tuesday at a campaign appearance in Los Angeles.

Dave Gilliard, spokesman for the recall organization Rescue California, said: "I think it would be truly pathetic for Gray Davis if, after losing the election, he tries to use lawyers to stay in office for a few days or weeks. It would be a fitting last chapter for him."
