1. David Letterman's August Surprise
When a popular late-night TV show celebrates an anniversary, who are
left-leaning entertainment powers-that-be going to call to help mark the special
day?
Presidential contender Hillary Clinton, of course.
This is exactly what CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" has in store for
viewers who tune in on Aug. 30.

New York's junior senator will be seated in Letterman's guest chair, getting
some free campaign promo and helping Dave observe the 14th anniversary of the
show.
Late-night shows like Letterman's, Jon Stewart's, and Jay Leno's have become
coveted venues for national political figures because of the exposure provided
and scope of audience potentially reached.
Letterman is apparently quite fond of both Bill and Hill.
Hillary's main campaign squeeze and advisor spouse Bill appeared on Letterman's
show on the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and was also a guest on a 2005
show to talk about his quadruple bypass.
As for Hillary, the August appearance will be her seventh.
2. Michael Moore's Subpoena Ploy
After Michael Moore let loose with a subpoena "secret" on NBC's "The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno," media outlets were flooded with reports that the struggling
filmmaker had, in fact, been served with a subpoena from the Bush Justice
Department.
"I haven't even told my own family yet," Moore told Leno. "I was just informed
when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a
subpoena for me."
Moore has been desperately seeking publicity for his latest flick, "Sicko," and
continues to try everything he can to resuscitate the box office.
Curiously, a day after his Leno appearance, Reuters reported that "federal
officials may be planning to subpoena filmmaker Michael Moore . . ."
Evidently, the source told Reuters that Moore had not actually been served with
the request.
3. Linda Hamilton Owns Up to Republican Vote
Linda Hamilton has confessed to a big Hollywood sin.
The "Terminator" actress admitted to the Female First Web site that she
committed the Tinseltown transgression of voting for a Republican.
Hamilton made it clear that she is a fervent Democrat. But she voted for Arnold
Schwarzenegger for governor of California.
When Schwarzenegger first ran for office in 2003, Hamilton expressed reluctance
to vote for her Republican co-star, but she apparently changed her mind.
Describing the Governator as "a loyal and steadfast friend," Hamilton explained,
"I'm a strong Democrat and when people asked me if I was going to vote for him,
I said, 'No.' But I did because he adapted."
"I respect him so much for his balanced approach, his incredible drive and the
fact that he is not in it for himself," Hamilton added.
When a Democrat describes a Republican as "balanced" and say that the person has
"adapted," look out.
It usually means the Republican has turned Democrat.
4. Lefties Target Fox News Sponsors
The Fox News Channel continues to drive liberals nuts.
Now the fringe of the Internet left has launched a new campaign against the
cable network.
The DailyKos, MoveOn, Campaign for America's Future and other way-out lefty
sites are asking rabid fans to determine which companies are sponsors on Fox.
They then plan to launch a phone calling campaign.
These are the same groups that urged Democrat presidential candidates not to
appear at any Fox sponsored debate. The candidates caved in to their demands.
The groups are purportedly trying to convince Home Depot to stop its Fox
advertising, the bent-headed thinking being that the company shouldn't be
advertising on a network that in any way questions global warming.
Home Depot has a reputation for promoting environmentally friendly products.
Most of the lib anger has been directed at Fox's Bill O'Reilly because he has
exposed left-wing bloggers for their hate mongering.
MoveOn.org spokesman Adam Green's wobbly way of cogitating was revealed when he
told The Associated Press, "We're not trying to silence anybody. Rush Limbaugh
has a right to be on the air — he admits his point of view. Fox doesn't."
5. 'The View' Picks Whoopi
After all the Rosie O'Donnell replacement talk that included the names of Kathy
Griffin and Kathy Lee Gifford, ABC execs have reportedly settled on a new
co-host for "The View."
Sitting across from Barbara Walters will be none other than actress, comedienne
and part-time political pontificator Whoopi Goldberg.
Expectations are high for the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner. But the
question is, which Whoopi will show up?
Will it be the caustic Whoopi who lost the Slim Fast account in 2004 or the
amiable Whoopi who appeared recently on the Fox News Channel?
