LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles sheriff's deputies are keeping a close eye on John Karr as the JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect awaits a transfer to Colorado.
Sheriff's Lieutenant George Vanecek says a psychiatrist has met with Karr twice since he was brought to the Twin Towers jail Sunday night after a flight from Thailand. Deputies are looking in on him every 15 minutes, monitoring both his mental state and physical safety.
It's not known how long Karr will remain in Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender Haydeh Takasugi, who represented Karr at a hearing Tuesday, said Karr was on "suicide watch" and all items considered a possible danger to him were taken away.
Karr has told reporters there that he was present when JonBenet died and that her death was an accident.
