UNITED NATIONS -- NewsMax has received a copy of a confidential
communication between U.N. secretary-general Kofi Annan and Israeli
prime minister Ehud Olmert, detailing the terms of the Middle East cease-fire that went into effect Monday morning.
Within the letter, there is an Annan warning to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) against planting any "booby traps" in the lands they will eventually vacate to an international peace keeping force.
The following are verbatim excerpts of the Annan ceasefire guidelines:
No firing into the territory of or at the other side by any weapon from the ground, sea or air
No force occupies or seeks to occupy any additional territory from the other side

So as to enable the U.N. to monitor compliance with the cease-fire, each side will:
Immediately inform the U.N. of the disposition of its forces and the territory held by them within the area in question as of the date and time of the cessation of hostilities coming into effect.
Immediately inform the U.N. of its information or assessment of the other side's disposition of forces and territory held by them within the area in question as of the date and time of the cessation of hostilities coming into effect.
Refrain from any changes in the strength, composition, or disposition of its forces in the area in question once the cessation of hostilities has come into effect, unless it notifies the U.N. in advance and the U.N. in turn is able to inform the other side.
Immediately notify the U.N. if it has been fired upon, in as precise detail as possible, refraining from responding except where clearly required in immediate self-defense. The U.N. undertakes to bring, in an impartial manner, such incidents to the attention to the security council as quickly as possible.
Designate a general officer who is guaranteed to be immediately available to the U.N. force commander at all times, through a variety of means of communications "hot lines" in order to exchange information on compliance with the cessation of hostilities as well as on measures required for the U.N. force to carry out its mandated activities. Equivalent communications hot lines are established between the U.N. and the relevant sides at battalion and other levels, as appropriate.
Designate a general officer who is authorized to jointly discuss with the U.N. force commander and a senior representative of the other side's armed forces time-lines and modalities for implementing provisions related to any withdrawal or forward deployment of their respective armed forces within the area in question, including certification that there are no unexploded ordnance, mines, or booby-traps in the area from which they have withdrawn.
