One Reporter's Opinion: Talk Radio Priorities
George Putnam
Friday, Oct. 6, 2006

It is this reporter's opinion that too much of talk radio is spent on titillation, trivia and tabloid "journalism" – day-to-day dissertations on scandal, murder and mayhem. The parade began with the O.J. Simpson murders; next came the Scott Peterson case, then exposés on the wayward priests, and after that, Michael Jackson, Monica Lewinsky and JonBenet Ramsey ... ad nauseam!

The radio and cable hosts salivate over the shortcomings of America, every nauseating detail discussed by Greta, Nancy, Larry, O'Reilly, Hannity, Keith and the rest.

Meanwhile, this reporter has reserved our precious print for the well-being of America. We were the first, 40 years ago, to warn of the invasion of America by hordes of illegal immigrants; we helped to rescue Soviet Jews, elect a mayor, and expose and bring down a district attorney [see "Minutemen Founder Credits George Putnam"].

Then, with the help of talk-show host Ray Briem, we were credited with giving the tax-starved people of California Howard Jarvis' Proposition 13, a ballot initiative that amended the constitution of the state of California, rescuing thousands of taxpayers' homes – an initiative that not only dramatically lowered property taxes but also required a two-thirds majority in both legislative houses for any state tax increases.

Story Continues Below

Briem and this reporter led a taxpayer revolt that resonated throughout the country and is said to have contributed to the election of Ronald Reagan [see "Schwarzenegger Makes His Mark in First Year"].

This reporter spent countless hours in opposition to NAFTA, GATT, WTO and the New World Order. Only recently the Economic Policy Institute proved us right when it stated that NAFTA has contributed to the most anemic employment situation in history [see "One Reporter's Opinion: 'NADA' to CAFTA"].

This reporter was one of the first to speak against Bush's ill-fated invasion of Iraq, said we have Saddam Hussein isolated and that the invasion of Iraq would destabilize the Middle East and throw it into turmoil. Again, we were proved right and are witnessing one of the worst continuing disasters in America's international history.

In One Reporter's Opinion, we have railed against Senate Bill 2611, which would reward millions of illegal aliens with an amnesty and allow them to permanently take American jobs and become U.S. citizens [see "One Reporter's Opinion: America Imploding" and "One Reporter's Opinion: Kill S.2611!"].

Senate Bill 2611 would also allow foreign workers to illegally enter our communities, crowd housing and schools, and depress wages. Pat Buchanan has labeled our present dilemma "America's worst hour of crisis since the Civil War" and says we are establishing an underpaid 21st-century slave class and have all but eliminated the middle class.

We have never let up on the chaos brought upon America by the illegal invasion and the attack on America's sovereignty, constantly warning Americans of the dangers of alternate routes taken by the terrorists who are clandestinely sneaking into our country every day.

We have reported the closing of 86 California hospitals, the bankruptcy of emergency wards, MS-13 gangs stampeding America [see "One Reporter's Opinion: MS-13 in Your Backyard"] and the $100 billion in drugs flooding America from Mexico.

And this reporter has covered the great works of the late Dr. Madeleine Cosman, who told of diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis, leprosy and others, all but extinct in America, being returned to us by millions of illegal aliens [see "One Reporter's Opinion: Dr. Madeleine Cosman's Legacy – A Harsh Warning" and "One Reporter's Opinion: Importing Disease"].

We have spoken consistently against the North American Union, a secret partnership put forth by Bush and his partners in Mexico and Canada. We have reported, along with Phyllis Schlafly, Jerome Corsi, Pat Buchanan, Dan Sheehy and others the fact that the Bush administration has decided to "back door" the creation of a North American Union that would erase our borders with Mexico and Canada and create several super-regional governing bodies that would have jurisdiction over the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court [see "One Reporter's Opinion: Two American Patriots"].

I speak of NAFTA PLUS being put into place by political elites in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, all without explanation or understanding by the public in the three countries.

We have spoken of Robert Pastor, father of this North American unity – the same Robert Pastor who would give away U.S. sovereignty to the newly forming North American Union, just as he engineered the giveaway of the Panama Canal during the Carter administration.

If George Washington was the father of our nation, Robert Pastor is the person most likely to be proclaimed "Father of the North American Union." This same Robert Pastor authored a 2004 article, "North America's Second Decade," in which he stated the U.S. would benefit by giving up its national sovereignty. He wrote, "Countries benefited when they changed these policies, and evidence suggests that North Americans are ready for a new relationship that renders this old definition of sovereignty obsolete."

These are the people behind the proposed North American Union [see "Meet Robert Pastor: Father of the North American Union," http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=16189].

We were among the first to warn against the NAFTA Super Highway that is moving state by state. We have warned against the "I-69 Corridor," which would connect Mexico and Canada through Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. The latest disclosure is the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor, the largest land grab in Texas history. It will force hundreds of thousands of properties to be taken off tax roles, costing local governments lost taxes and forcing thousands of ranchers and homeowners from their property through eminent domain.

And now we are reporting the threat of Islamic terrorists. Tony Blankley, editor of the Washington Times, in his book, "The West's Last Chance," warns of the nature and magnitude of the radical Islamist threat. See more: "One Reporter's Opinion: Muslim Jihad Threatens the World!" and "One Reporter's Opinion: If the Terrorists Don't Get Us, the Illegals Will."

It is predicted that if we don't put the brakes on the illegal alien invasion by the year 2100, America will number 1 billion people within its borders, third in population only to China and India.

These are only a few of the day-to-day stories covered in One Reporter's Opinion. These are some of the things we talk about instead of tabloid journalism. We've covered narcotics, the fueling of worldwide terror, money laundering, international banking, crime, jobs, and anchor babies [see "One Reporter's Opinion: 'Anchor Babies' Are Weighing Us Down"], the elderly, the state of emergency and fighting immigration anarchy [see "One Reporter's Opinion: 'Fighting Immigration Anarchy'"].

It's all there within One Reporter's Opinion. This is what the "talk about power" is all about.
