Attaining World Military Supremacy Today
Lev Navrozov
Friday, Oct. 27, 2006

Before Aug. 6 and Aug. 2, 1945, when U.S. "atomic bombs" took their toll of life in two Japanese cities, and before Sept. 2, 1945, when the unconditional surrender was signed in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri, many Japanese had assumed that Japan was winning its war with the United States, which Japan had started by its Pearl Harbor attack of Dec. 7, 1941. Today the attack seems insane, but at that time many Japanese regarded Japan as having world military supremacy.

Japan's Pearl Harbor attack was devastating: U.S. battleships in the harbor were destroyed, wrecked, sunk, with 2,000 U.S. sailors and 200 soldiers killed. Japan occupied Manila on Jan. 2, 1942, Singapore on Feb. 13 ...

War was perceived before 1945 as a contest between mechanical systems, similar to machine tools at factories or in transport, but operated by heroic killers instead of paid civilians. In the West and in Russia, soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war were glorified. Japan took this sacrifice much further.

First of all, in case of lack of heroic bravery, an aristocratic warrior (a samurai) was to commit hara-kiri ("stomach-cutting"), that is, suicide by ripping out his intestines.

Second, the pilots called "kamikazes" made suicidal crashes on their targets. Reminiscent of 9/11? Well, on 9/11, 19 young men got together and carried out their suicidal attack of their own free will, while kamikazes were members of an armed force under military discipline.

And suddenly – Japan's unconditional surrender!

What had happened? Just as warfare transformed with the advent of firearms instead of bows and arrows, warfare transformed in 1945 with the advent of nuclear superweapons instead of machine guns and tanks. The victorious warrior was not a Western or Russian hero or a Japanese kamikaze, but a scientist of genius such as Enrico Fermi (an emigre from Italy), whom Einstein cited in his letter of Aug. 2, 1939, to Roosevelt about the need for development of nuclear weapons, possibly already being developed in Germany.

Story Continues Below

Fermi emigrated from Italy to the United States because his wife was Jewish and Mussolini had launched anti-Semitism out of solidarity with Hitler. Neither Fermi nor Einstein had ever operated any firearms. But they were now the key warriors, for wars were fought, won, or lost in laboratories. The warfare of labs had replaced the war of machine guns and tanks, operated by heroes at the risk to their own lives. As it became clear in 1945, the war of genius replaced the war of bravery, no matter how suicidal.

Genius differs from field to field, and all kinds of genius do not grow everywhere equally well. Only the United States created Edison, who made more than 1,000 patented inventions. But those were inventions in mechanics and conventional science. On the other hand, one reason why the United States and not Nazi Germany, which was also developing nuclear weapons, produced them in 1945, was anti-Semitism launched by Hitler and hence the emigration of Germans such as Einstein and Italians such as Fermi to the United States. The American genius in those fields did not grow in the cultural soil of the United States as vigorously as it did in that of Germany.

The dictators of China cannot expect the emigration to China of genius in the development of post-nuclear superweapons. But they can create for such scientists of genius better living and working conditions than they could have anywhere else. This does not rule out sending abroad millions of Chinese to study the respective fields in the West (or in Putin's Russia!). The country that will accumulate most of the genius in the fields of post-nuclear superweapons will have world military supremacy.

What about the United States, that same country that made Japan surrender unconditionally in 1945 owing to the accumulation of genius from Western Europe (fleeing from Hitler's anti-Semitism)?

On Oct. 11, 2006, I received an e-mail showing how well "common Americans" see the fatal danger to the West in China in alliance with Putin's Russia.

Dear Mr. Navrozov,

How frustrating it is to see our no-brain media and politicians obsessed with Mark Foley and the proxies, Iran and North Korea, while ignoring China and Russia. I can imagine how loud must be laughing Putin and Hu.

Regards,
[name of author withheld, since I am not sure he wants it disclosed]

Well said! In two sentences! Elaborating on them somewhat, it can be said that "our no-brain media and politicians" are still living in a world before the appearance of "atomic weapons" in the United States in 1945, in Stalin's Russia in 1949, and in Mao's China in 1964, whereupon nuclear weapons became useless as offensive weapons because they cannot find and destroy an attacked country's means of nuclear retaliation, such as submerged submarines with nuclear missiles aboard.

That is, they cannot circumvent Mutual Assured Destruction, on which nuclear peace has rested. Our "no-brain media and politicians" have forgotten the very phrase "Mutual Assured Destruction." They invaded Iraq in 2003 allegedly because Saddam Hussein "could" produce atomic weapons, and they chattered for days (but there has been no invasion!) after North Korea had tested them.

Hu and Putin began to laugh in 2003 when the U.S. president invaded Iraq, since the invasion made no geostrategic sense, antagonized many Moslems, and was undertaken for oil to the Bushes and their oil-shareholding cronies.

When it has turned out that the United States cannot defeat the guerrilla war in a small Third World country, and not a single U.S. official or officer had foreseen the guerrilla war, Hu and Putin were already splitting their sides with laughter. If this Iraqi joke were made by China's Pentagon, Hu would have put all of its officers and officials at the top of the highest staircase in the building, to somersault each of them all the way down.

What is for Hu serious (no laughter, please) is the fact that the West is helping China to develop in cooperation with Putin's Russia such superweapons as would annihilate the West or would make it surrender unconditionally, as Japan surrendered to the United States in 1945.

Of course, some of my readers try to console me (and/or themselves) by writing in their e-mails to me that, for example, molecular nanoweapons are being developed in the United States but since it is secret, I do not know about it.

In his e-mail to me of Oct. 7, 2006, Ronald Zond (I disclose his name, since his e-mail contains nothing nonconformist) writes that he has read all of my articles he could find, and he agrees with 99 percent of what I say. So, what is his 1 percent of disagreement?

Most Americans are oblivious to the details of nanotechnology. Much of what is being produced is kept under wraps. In America, we also do a "maskirovka" [the Russian word for "camouflage"]. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading your articles.
As I have said, the development of new superweapons requires genius (just as did Edison's inventions and Einstein's discoveries). I know an American scientist of genius in the field of nanoweapons: Eric Drexler, the founder of nanotechnology in general.

But the U.S. Congress has not given a cent to the Foresight Institute he founded in 1986. Why? In his book, published also in 1986, there is a chapter (Chapter 11) describing molecular nanoweapons. Some of those working in the civilian (commercial) fields of nanotechnology managed to assure the U.S. Congress that Drexler's theory of molecular nanoweapons is "good only to scare little children."

Drexler resigned in 2004 as the president of the Institute he founded, evidently to help it to receive allocations from the U.S. Congress since he and his theory of molecular nanoweapons are no longer connected with the Institute he has founded.

In 1941 Germany declared war on the United States, and in a state of war allocations could go into the Manhattan Project without the approval of the U.S. Congress, as military measures at war. In the 2000s, the tragicomical discussions by the U.S. Congress of allocations to Drexler and his Foresight Institute were observed by anyone who wanted to observe them, such as myself, who wrote several columns about this comical tragedy of Western suicide.

Yet there are Americans credulous enough to believe that, for example, molecular nanoweapons can be developed without genius, such as the founder of nanotechnology. It is the same as would have been the assumption in the second half of the1940s that nuclear weapons were being developed in the United States without the scientists of genius, such as those Einstein mentioned in his letter to President Roosevelt, but this is not important. What is important is that the development of nuclear weapons was "kept under wraps" and hence was bound to produce nuclear weapons ahead of Germany.

There are millions of scientists in the United States. Einstein used to say that only seven people in the world UNDERSTOOD him. How many of these were his equals?

The trouble is that today's foe of the democratic West is not Hitler, who was stupid enough to invest all available resources in conventional war instead of the development of nuclear weapons. But China's dictatorship is savvy enough to annihilate the West or make it surrender unconditionally by accumulating the maximum of relevant genius in the development of post-nuclear superweapons, while "our no-brain media and politicians" discuss whether North Korea has acquired its first atomic bomb (as Stalin and Mao did in 1949 and 1964, respectively) and how to persuade North Korea to stop such evil experimentation endangering the entire world.

Our "no-brain media and politicians" are living in the 1940s except that they expect nuclear weapons not from Germany ahead of the United States, but from North Korea and Iran 60 years after they appeared in the United States (and were used to make Japan surrender unconditionally). The next step for "our no-brain media and politicians" is to discuss the danger to the world of bows and arrows in some countries at the tribal stage. Imagine an arrow piercing the heart of an American official or officer who was about to eat his lunch. An ambulance comes only to find him dead, and his killing is discussed by the U.S. mainstream media for days on end as a major event in the "war on terror."
