U.S., Japan to Offer Revised Sanctions on N. Korea

UNITED NATIONs -- NewsMax has learned that the United States and Japan have reached agreement with Russia and China on new punitive sanctions for North Korea.

The United States has revised its sanctions proposal, which is expected to be presented to the full Security Council on Friday.

Diplomatic sources tell NewsMax that economic, not military, sanctions will be sent to the full council.

China insisted Thursday on more "negotiating" time with North Korea before the council considers harsher military actions against the rogue nation that reportedly tested nuclear weapons earlier this week.

A full U.N. Security Council vote is expected Saturday.
