Last month there was a commemoration for the victims of 9/11, and two fairy tales were spun in the United States around the event, one official and one unofficial.
The Official Fairy Tale
It was not 19 Moslems who sacrificed their lives of their own free will by ramming U.S. airliners into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, but it was Osama bin Laden who ordered them to sacrifice their lives and invented a detailed plan for how to do it.
Actually, none of the 19 terrorists came from Afghanistan, where bin Laden had been hiding. After 9/11, he concocted a film in which he explains how he organized the 9/11 attack, but which really shows that he knew nothing about the event except what had been televised by that time by Arab-language television.
The film proves that he is a smug, ignorant fool, obsessed with his self-glorification, and those American "experts" who believed his film concoction are even more stupid for all their degrees and posts.
Bin Laden's behavior has been that of a coward. When the United States invaded Afghanistan, he fled and left behind the members of his al-Qaida to be captured by the invaders. There was not a single case of suicidal resistance. This real picture does not square with the myth of al-Qaida fighters dying fearlessly on the order of their divine sovereign.
It is even more absurd and fantastic to believe bin Laden's film, according to which he, who has been living in the Islamic world, had planned all the details of the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. If bin Laden believes this story himself, this means that he is clinically insane and is capable only of hiding and bragging.
Story Continues Below
To send thousands or even millions of al-Qaida operatives into the United States as illegal immigrants has been no problem, but we are to believe that bin Laden has been so awed by George W. Bush's "war on terror" that he has not dared since 9/11 to order his al-Qaida to demolish the White House or the Empire State Building.
It is worthwhile to recall in this connection who Osama bin Laden is or was (if he has died). During the guerrilla war in Afghanistan against the Soviet-installed government, the CIA secretly financed the guerrillas. Since bin Laden had inherited hundreds of millions of (oil) dollars, he was the best candidate for passing the CIA's money to the anti-Soviet Afghan guerrillas as his own private contributions.
Bin Laden was also in charge of the CIA's camp for the training of guerrillas (no, not terrorists!) and of the CIA's al-Qaida (a refuge for guerrillas). When the Soviet troops withdrew from Afghanistan, the former CIA agent became, in the official U.S. fairy tale, the commander in chief of the anti-American terrorist army (al-Qaida).
U.S. mainstream television has been showing the CIA's camp for training anti-Soviet guerrillas as bin Laden's camp for training anti-American terrorists, since most American TV viewers have a vague notion of differences between guerrillas who fight enemy fortifications and terrorists who attack passersby.
Since half of mankind lives on $2 a day, the multimillionaire bin Laden could pay his own $2 a day to a pauper acting as a terrorist or pretending to, but no amount of money would induce those 19 young men to sacrifice their lives to ram U.S. airliners into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon.
There are hundreds of terrorist organizations. But the U.S. political establishment cannot remember their Arabic names and classify all terrorists as "al-Qaida."
Since that name became the best known, all kinds of terrorists or simply paupers call themselves al-Qaida, creating the false impression that they are members of bin Laden's world fairy tale organization that the U.S. mainstream media have made the world's best-known terrorist group. In actuality, Osama bin Laden cannot induce a single Moslem to sacrifice his life in order to kill even 300,000 infidels.
The Unofficial Fairy Tale
According to this fairy tale, the 9/11 attack was the work of the U.S. president and/or his subordinates, to stir up the general fear of "terror" and to support the "war on terror" in Iraq! The Towers did not collapse, according to this fairy tale, because of the gigantic fire set by the jet fuel in the airliners, but were destroyed by the U.S. government plotters.
It is curious that the unofficial fairy tale is even more stupid and ignorant than the official fairy tale.
As for Iraq, George H.W. Bush said – not in a fairy tale but in impeccably authentic and never-questioned records (see, for example, Kitty Kelley's "The Family," p. 101, and the Notes to the book, pp. 641-642):
There wasn't anything subtle and complicated about [the move of the Bushes to Texas]. We ... just wanted to make a lot of money quick.
Oil-wise, Iraq was more promising ($10 trillion worth of oil) than Texas. So the next move was into Iraq.
But a pretext was necessary. George H.W. Bush could not say, "We just want to make even more money in Iraq than in Texas and even more quickly." So he appointed April Glaspie as ambassador to Iraq, and on July 25, 1990, she met with Saddam Hussein.
Her description of their conversation occupies almost two pages, but I will quote just one paragraph. Kuwait was pirating Iraqi oil through borderland underground tunnels. What should Iraq do, wondered Saddam?
U.S. Ambassador Glaspie: We have no opinion on your Arab-Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary [of State James] Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960s, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America.
Accordingly, Saddam occupied Kuwait in order to stop Kuwait's piracy of Iraqi oil, but he immediately offered to negotiate a withdrawal.
Yet now George H.W. Bush could now scream: "Insolent aggressor! As commander in chief, I order the liberation of Kuwait and the invasion of the country of the insolent aggressor!"
Saddam was not overthrown this time, but Iraq was put under blockade, as a result of which half a million children under the age of 5 died of hunger and of disruption of medical aid.
The blockade was to force Iraq to surrender. But Iraq did not surrender. Then, in 2003, the invasion of Iraq was begun under the pretext that Saddam had not destroyed the "weapons of mass destruction" sold to him by U.S. firms when Iraq was at war with Iran and the United States sided with Iraq against Iran.
What was the psychological effect of the blockade on some Moslems?
Every nation tends to regard its sufferings as unique and never forgets them. How well the 3,000 deaths of 9/11 are mourned, remembered and relived in the United States! But the deaths in Iraq of half a million children under the age of 5 owing to the blockade of Iraq were briefly mentioned by the U.S. media as sheer fleeting statistics and were soon forgotten, though never disputed.
Yes, the Islamic attack of 9/11 was barbaric, and every victim of it is a unique, irretrievable life lost forever.
But what about the blockade of Iraq before 9/11 – killing half a million children under the age of 5 in a country whose population is less than one-tenth of that of the United States?
Neither before 9/11, 2001, nor after, did 19 young Moslems sacrifice their lives so resolutely, cooperatively, spontaneously, and almost businesslike. Even if all of them were constitutionally predisposed to suicide, only an abysmal revenge, infinite hatred, or a boundless offense could motivate such unique behavior.
What has been the goal for the sake of which half a million children under the age of 5 were killed by the blockade?
Even if guerrilla war in Iraq is defeated, this piece of land will be, except for its oil, no more valuable than any other piece of land of about the same size, and geostrategically, its value is zero. Its only value is the oil for the Bushes and their cronies, but, ironically, they will never have that oil – not at the price of half a million Iraqi children under the age of 5 killed by the blockade of Iraq, apart from all the other killings in Iraq, to say nothing of its destruction.
According to the latest data, 61 percent of public poll respondents in Iraq approve guerrilla attacks on the U.S. forces and are for their immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
In the official fairy tale, it is said that the "war on terror" in Iraq has been protecting the United States, for otherwise "the terrorists" (the Iraqi guerrillas) would bring their "terror" to the United States (to begin a guerrilla war in New York or Washington, D.C.?).
In reality, the United States faces annihilation by Sino-Russian superweapons, but before that denouement, the Bushes, in their hunt for Iraqi oil, have been spreading venomous hatred, ruthless revenge and suicidal vendetta against the United States in the Islamic world.
In addition, the fairy tale "war on terror" has been diverting public attention from post-nuclear superweapons being developed in China (in cooperation with Putin's Russia), able to destroy not 3,000 but 3 billion lives, including those of children below the age of 5.
