SANTA FE -- Mel Gibson's Icon Productions Inc. has plans to shoot the feature film "Seraphim Falls" this fall in Santa Fe, Taos and locations in the southern part of the state, Gov. Bill Richardson announced Tuesday.

The governor said the project will employ at least 100 New Mexicans.

"New Mexico has the most successful film incentive package in the country," Richardson said. "We continue to grow the film industry here in New Mexico, creating high-wage jobs and moving our economy forward."

The governor said the state beat out Canada for the project because of it's incentive package, which includes a tax rebate, no-interest loans and film training.

"Seraphim Falls" marks the 31st production shot in New Mexico in the past 2 years, according to the Governor's Office.

The cast will include Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan. Neeson's character, an American Civil War Army colonel, pursues Brosnan's character across the West to avenge his family's death.

The film will be directed by David Von Ancken. Bruce Davey, president of Icon Productions, and David Flynn will produce the project.
