The following is a statement issued by the Schindler family shortly after Terri Schiavo's death:
"The events of this morning, while Bobby Schindler and Suzanne Schindler Vicagamo were in the room with Terri, are highly distressing. At the time they expected this to be at the end of Terri's life, but they did not know how much time was left. At the end of the hour's visit, the police came in and told them that they had to leave. At that point, they pleaded with the police - the police were acting under the orders of Michael Schiavo - that Michael allow them to stay in the room as Terri was about to pass away. They were begging to be in the room even with Michael with them so they could be there for her last moments. Their pleadings were passed onto Michael, and Michael denied their request. At that point they were ordered to leave the room. They were again begging and pleading to be allowed to stay. The police were under orders to threaten to arrest them. They not only escorted them out of the room, but also off the hospice property. Within ten minutes, it was reported that Terri passed away."
