Hillary's Worst Nightmare Geoff MetcalfThe junior senator from New York has had a tough week (about to get tougher). Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. John McCain are part of a five-member congressional delegation that is meeting with U.S. officials and members of Iraq's interim government. During the orchestrated photo ops she said, "The results of the election are a strong rebuke to those who did not believe that the Iraqi people would take this opportunity to demonstrate their own commitment to their own future." Story Continues Below Gee, do you think maybe OUR election in November could have been "a strong rebuke to those" who cling to the rejected politics of liberal Democrats? I have been a harsh critic of Hillary Clinton for a very long time. She is a mean-spirited, duplicitous, heavy-handed manipulator with a vile mouth and ruthless resolve. Hillary is Lady Macbeth on steroids, heralded as either the great Democrat hope or the personification of evil. In the fictional world of Harry Potter, a boggart is a critter that manifests itself as the viewer's worst fear. Hillary is a hybrid boggart, revealing herself to those who see her as their worst fear or greatest savior. New York Daily News gossipmonger Lloyd Grove recently wrote: "I hope Senator Hillary Clinton isn't counting on help from Hollywood mogul David Geffen in her possible run for the White House in 2008. Geffen, a generous supporter and pal of Bill Clinton when he was President, trashed Hillary's prospects during a Q&A at the 92nd St. Y. 'She can't win, and she's an incredibly polarizing figure,' the gazillionaire said. 'And ambition is just not a good enough reason.' Geffen's dis was met with hearty applause." Ouch! Meanwhile, chronic talking head and law professor Susan Estrich can't seem to make up her mind. She has said Hillary is both 'too polarizing' and/or a slam-dunk cinch ... depending (I guess) on the phase of the moon and level of the professor's hormones. The Web site www.Hillary-watch.org is monitoring how she votes, what legislation she sponsors, what she says and where she gets money. Dr. Jack Wheeler reports on his Web site, To the Point (http://www.tothepointnews.com/article.php?id=629&i=), that a "red-breasted rumor bird" is buzzing around the Capitol whispering Hillary's worst nightmare. Congressional know-it-alls claim Vice President Dick Cheney will use health reasons as an excuse to not finish his term. If or when that happens, word is that Bush will pick Condoleezza Rice to succeed Cheney. Wheeler says: "Being a sitting Vice-President places Condi in an impregnable position for the GOP nomination in 2008, and sucks every breath of wind from Hillary's sails. ... This is George Bush and Dick Cheney's way to buck history – and make it." A Rice vice presidency is a big honking 'what if'. Some argue it is inappropriate to even articulate such a scenario with Cheney still in the gig. However, Cheney has already made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of running for the big chair. Despite a plethora of wannabe Republicans, no real 'star' (among the usual suspects) exists. McCain is older than Reagan was (and he's no Ronald Reagan). Rudy Giuliani is damaged goods and a base-alienating RINO. Newt Gingrich is ... well, Newt, and as polarizing a figure as Hillary. Dr. Rice is a Super Bowl pass to the end zone with 4 seconds on the clock when your team is down 3. Condi IS 'the catch'. If you compare Hillary and Rice with a list of traditional wedge issues, Condi is 'the bomb':
The GOP base will love her. Women will love her (she shatters the glass ceiling). All minorities will love her (with the exception of Middle Eastern terrorist sleeper cells). She is pro-gun, anti-abortion, pro-family, anti-taxes ... Condoleezza Rice is a flipping juggernaut waiting to be unleashed on the dysfunctional, lost, babbling Democratic Party. Democrats don't appear to have the brains, 'stones' or ability to save the party from the party leadership. Dems seem intent on wallowing in a perpetual state of denial and inability to even acknowledge overwhelming facts in evidence that contradict their preconceived opinions and prejudices. As if the bitterly partisan screeds of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid weren't bad enough, the anachronistic Ted Kennedy still exerts influence. Suicidal Democrats have chosen Howard Dean as the DNC chairman in the vain hope that he can somehow change his spots. Hillary has 'tried' to reinvent herself. She has 'tried' to mitigate her extreme liberal roots. She has even 'tried' to equivocate on abortion (go figure). However, if you think John Kerry got hammered for flip-flopping, wait for the point-counterpoint on Hillary. Condoleezza Rice is Hillary's worst nightmare. If only the "red-breasted" rumor is true ...
