Two skydivers jump together. Their parachutes fail. Plummeting earthward, they argue: When is this a crisis? Splat! Who was right? That's the Social Security issue.
This will be brief, for the outcome remains in doubt, dependent upon how these readers, and others, respond to President Bush's leadership on saving Social Security.

It boils down to this. While there's still time, yank the ripcord on the reserve chute. Admittedly there's a jolt, but less uncomfortable than the alternative.
As Mae West enjoyed telling the paratroopers: "It don't mean a thing if you don't pull that string."
