1. Hidden Democratic Game Plan for 527s

If you thought the idea behind the 527s has been to buy TV ads attacking George Bush, you're wrong.

BusinessWeek revealed their hidden strategy in a small item that received little press attention. But it caught our eye.

So far, the pro-Kerry 527s have spent $33 million on TV ads bashing Bush.

But the same 527s, backed by Bush-hating billionaires like George Soros, have spent more than triple that amount - some $85 million -- on registering new (read Democratic) voters.

These voter registration drives are below the radar screen, but may prove decisive for the Democrats on Election Day.

Steve Rosenthal, head of one of the leading 527s, Americans Coming Together, says, "There has never been anything like this magnitude of voter contact in history."

Rosenthal doesn't lie. The Republicans -- already on track to be outspent by the Democrats by 2 to 1 -- have not mounted any comparative effort.

There is no hard data on how effective the grassroots voter efforts have been so far, but NewsMax hears that the 527s are pouring millions into building get-out-the-vote operations in two states: Florida and Ohio.

2. Goss at CIA, Bad News for National Intelligence Director

The news that Congressman Porter J. Goss was nominated by the president as his new CIA director is bad news for the new National Intelligence Director.

The NID -- already dubbed the "Intel Czar" -- has yet to be named. In August, President Bush announced he would accept the recommendation of the Sept. 11 Commission and appoint an NID to oversee the various U.S. intelligence agencies.

But Bush rejected the idea that the NID would have Cabinet rank. In fact, the NID won't be part of the Executive Office of the President.

Critics say the new NID may be as powerful as the "Drug Czar" position -- which never carried much bureaucratic muscle.

The decision by Porter Goss to take the job may be a clear indication that the Bush administration sees the NID job as window dressing.

A week before Goss' public acceptance of the CIA job, a former CIA official and friend of NewsMax told us that Goss had been offered the job but was holding out.

Why?

The source said Goss was waiting to find out what the administration intended with the NID. Goss would not take the CIA job if he had to report to the NID.

3. Federal Bureaucracy Creep

The Washington Post notes one way that federal bureaucrats have been able to grow their numbers -- they simply create more titles.

In the past few decades, Uncle Sam has accumulated untold numbers of these: "deputy associate deputy secretary," "deputy assistant assistant secretary" and "principal deputy deputy assistant secretary."

4. Constitution Doesn't OK U.N. Election Monitoring

Tom Kilgannon, president of Freedom Alliance, demonstrated his bipartisanship when it comes to deferring America's independence.

After blasting John Kerry for his overt globalist agenda, Kilgannon is bashing the Bush State Department for the same headlong charge down the slope of America's slipping sovereignty.

"Obviously, somebody over at Foggy Bottom misread the Constitution," stated Kilgannon. "According to our Founding Fathers, it is the 'States' -- not the 'State Department' -- which are in charge of overseeing federal elections."

The State Department splashed headlines around the world and incensed many Americans recently with its invitation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), an Austrian-based human rights group, to monitor the U.S. presidential election on November 2 -- setting a terrifically damaging precedent for future U.S. elections.

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, and 10 of her Democrat colleagues started the whole mess by running to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to see if he would take time out from his scandal with the Oil-for-Food program to get the world body involved in the U.S. elections.

"The United States is the best example of representative democracy, fairness and equality that the world has ever seen," said Kilgannon. "Any American who believes that foreign institutions like the United Nations and the OSCE are more qualified to judge any election in our country is unfit to hold a position of trust in the government. On November 2, millions of American citizens will exercise their right to participate in the most sacred act of American democracy -- our presidential election. Americans have been electing their own leaders for 200 years. We don't need advice from the French or the Germans, thank you very much."
