Blast at U.S. Base in Iraq Kills at Least 22

BAGHDAD, Iraq – An explosion at a U.S. base near the northern city of Mosul on Tuesday caused "multiple causalities," the U.S. military said. At least 22 people were killed and 50 wounded, a Pentagon official later said.
The cause of the blast, which occurred around noon, was under investigation, the first statement said.

A military spokesman in Mosul declined to give further details.
The U.S. Army's Task Force Olympia is based in this predominantly Sunni Muslim city.
