WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. The Hartford airport was evacuated
Tuesday after a "cutting instrument" was found in a concourse
restroom, police said.
Travelers were ordered onto the street outside Bradley
International Airport, the largest regional airport between Boston
and New York.
State police spokesman Sgt. J. Paul Vance said a cleaning crew
found the cutting instrument in a women's restroom on the airport's
new concourse. The entire airport was evacuated.
"There was absolutely no threat whatsoever," Vance said. "It
was a discovery, and as result of that discovery we instituted the
plans we have in place. We're not going to open it until we're
absolutely certain it's safe."
There was no immediate word on whether flights were canceled,
but airport officials said they would ensure travelers made it to
their destinations.
